US President Donald Trump appeared to quash his beef with billionaire pop star Taylor Swift following the public announcement of her engagement with now-fiance Travis Kelce. The 79-year-old politician, who’s recently became subject to increasing rumoured health concerns, conveniently forgot all the single-sided ‘Bad Blood’ he had with the “Love Story” hit-maker when he was told about the big news.

Losing sight of his previous Truth Social posts wherein he not only dragged the pop star, but also chuckled at the sight of her being booed at a public event, he wished Swift and Kelce “a lot of luck.” Just three weeks after Trump called Taylor “a woke singer,” saying, she was “NO LONGER HOT,” the Republican leader went on to cheer for her relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs tight-end.

Trump’s message to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce after engagement

“I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy,” he said of Kelce in an appreciative tone in front of reporters in a cabinet meeting this week. Thereafter, turning to Swift, he added, “And I think that she’s a terrific person. So I wish them a lot of luck.”

Trump has never shied away from publicly taunting, slandering Taylor Swift

Swift, who openly supported last year’s Democratic presidential candidate and Trump’s rival Kamala Harris ahead of the November 2024 election, has often become the target of Trump’s online rants. In his signature all-caps tirade, the MAGA boss formally confessed his “hate” for Taylor this past September.

First making his feelings clear on the 35-year-old pop star after her official endorsement of Harris, he said in an interview with Fox & Friends, “I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time. She couldn’t possibly endorse Biden… But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.” He eventually also took to his social media platform, unleashing his fury, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on Truth Social.

In May, he again retorted, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?'” And then weeks ago, his social media tirades again relied on Taylor’s name for clout. He celebrated Sydney Sweeney‘s controversial American Eagle ad after it was revealed that she registered as a Republican.

“Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the ‘HOTTEST’ ad out there. It’s for American Eagle, and the jeans are ‘flying off the shelves’. Go get ‘em Sydney” he cheered on the controversy-riddled Euphoria star. He voiced his disdain of Swift in the very same post, saying, “… Or look at Woke singer Taylor Swift. Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can’t stand her (HATE!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT.”

He continued, “The tide has seriously returned — Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Trump cheered when Taylor was booed

Trump’s post refers to the February incident when Taylor Swift came out to support her then-boyfriend, now-fiance Travis Kelce at the Super Bowl. The crowd’s reaction to her appearance on the big screen starkly contrasted with their response to Trump’s cameo at the event.

Shortly after that, Trump taunted the singer again, writing on Truth Social, “Trump gets massive cheers at the Super Bowl while Taylor Swift gets booed – The world is healing!” When he decided he hadn’t had enough, he jumped to share yet another post, adding, “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”

Among other such instances, the documented claims of Trump’s hatred for the “Anti-Hero” star dates back to 2018, when she endorsed Democratic Senate candidate Phil Bredesen instead of voicing support for Republican Marsha Blackburn in Tennessee, as per Rolling Stone. “I’m sure Taylor Swift knows noting,” the MAGA leader said at the time. “I like Taylor’s music about 25 percent less now, OK?”

Taylor Swift is engaged

Sharing a one-line Instagram post backed by a five-picture carousel, Taylor Swift signed off on social media: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Despite the recent public announcement, Kelce’s father shared via US reports that the sports star had actually proposed to Swift weeks ago.

Even Travis’ team joined in on the celebrations, welcoming Taylor to the family. “Congrats to Travis and Taylor – we’re excited to have you as a permanent member of the Chiefs Kingdom family!” the team wrote on X, adding, “Today is a fairytale.”
