President Trump cut off a female reporter from Politico during a press session aboard Air Force One, dismissing her questions about China and calling her employer “fake news.”

While heading to Tel Aviv to oversee the first phase of a peace deal between Israel and Hamas, Trump took questions from the press for about 25 minutes.

The questions ranged from the Middle East situation to the looming government shutdown. However, things took a turn when Politico reporter Dasha Burns began asking about his recent tariff increase on China.

Trump criticises Politico

When Burns tried to ask about the proposed 100% tariff on China, Trump seemed amused but also annoyed. “Wow, she asks a lot of questions. Who are you with?” he said.

When she identified herself as working for Politico, Trump responded, “Politico’s gone bad. They’ve been wrong about everything!” He then shut down her line of questioning, saying, “Let’s get somebody else to ask some questions, you mind? Because Politico is fake news.”

Burns, who was formerly a national correspondent for NBC News and now serves as Politico’s White House Bureau Chief, had been trying to press Trump on the potential economic effects of the new tariff.

Trump, however, defended the move, saying it was a response to China’s export restrictions on rare earth metals, not something he initiated.

Trump talks about hostages in Israel

On a more serious note, Trump also addressed the situation regarding Israeli hostages held by Hamas. He mentioned that there were 20 hostages still alive and suggested they could be released sooner than expected.

“We may get them out a little bit early,” he said and shared that the hostages had been in very difficult conditions, though the exact time of their release was still uncertain.

The release of these hostages is part of a larger deal where Hamas plans to free 20 hostages in exchange for roughly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. The Israeli military is also preparing to pull back from most of Gaza as part of this arrangement.

‘This is what he does’

Netizens also posted their opinion on Trump’s reaction. A user noted, ” This is what he always does.’ Another added, “He not answers questions, no need to answer his question.” “It’s only fake news when they don’t cater to the whims,” claimed another. “He not answers questions, no need to answer his question,” wrote a user.
