Just very recently, tech billionaire Elon Musk and US President Donald Trump were trading insults in a very public and messy online spat, with sharp digs and pointed remarks flying between the two high-profile men. But in a surprising turn of events, Musk now appears to be aligning himself with the Trump camp.

Following the recent protests in Los Angeles, the tech billionaire has thrown his weight behind the Trump administration’s stance and went on to retweet one of Trump’s posts on Truth Social taking aim at California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Bashing Governor Newsom, Trump’s post read, “Governor Gavin Newscum and “Mayor” Bass should apologize to the people of Los Angeles for the absolutely horrible job that they have done, and this now includes the ongoing L.A. riots. These are not protesters, they are troublemakers and insurrectionists. Remember, NO MASKS!”

Musk soon after shared Trump’s post on his X account with no caption.

Earlier too, commenting on the LA unrest, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “A once great American City, Los Angeels, has been invaded and occupied by Illegal Aliens and Criminals. Now violent, insurrectionist mobs are swarming and attacking our Federal Agents to try and stop our deportation operations – But these lawless riots only strengthen our resolve.” He further added that he had directed all authorities to take “all such action necessary to liberate Los Angeles from the Migrant Invasion, and put an end to these Migrant riots.”

The post was shared by US Vice President JD Vance who captioned it saying, “This moment calls for decisive leadership. The president will not tolerate rioting and violence.” Musk retweeted Vance’s post with two American flag emojis.

Social Media reacts as Musk changes goalpost

Many social media users were quick to slam Musk with many making fun of him for changing his stance on Trump. “Off your drugs, Elon,” wrote one X user, while another wrote, “Just man up Elon. Grow some b**** and say I’m sorry to the godfather so you can continue playing Dogefather😅. You’ll still have your government contracts, don’t be scared.”

One of the X users with the handle name @deanna504 said, ” This is unAmerican. I’m unsurprised that Musk agrees with this action.”

Another X user wrote, “U had a chance to reclaim some integrity by opposing Trump and are blowing it away.” There were many who shared their thoughts on Elon shifting goal posts. While some supported the move sarcastically, saying “This is the way, Elon”, others commented that they “miss the fighting times”.
