Gaza Peace Deal Summit Live Updates: First batch of Israeli hostages have been transferred from Hamas armed wing to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) custody in Gaza. The Red Cross began the operation on Monday to collect the first of 20 surviving Israeli hostages held by Hamas. This is the first step in a ceasefire deal aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza, brokered with the help of US President Donald Trump.
As part of the agreement, Israel is set to release nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners later on Monday. Another group of 28 Israeli hostages, out of which 26 have been confirmed dead and two whose fate is unknown, are expected to be handed over afterward. The ICRC will transport the hostages to Israeli security forces, who will take them into Israel. From there, they will be reunited with their families and flown by helicopter to hospitals in central Israel.

US President Donald Trump is already on board Air Force One and is expected to reach Israel today. According to the White House, he will meet with the families of the hostages and speak at the Israeli parliament, the Knesset. After that, he will travel to Egypt to co-host a global peace summit with regional and international leaders. The summit will mark the signing of the ceasefire and push for lasting peace in the region.

While U.S. President Donald Trump has demanded Hamas disarm under a plan to end the Gaza war, he indicated that it had a green light for internal security operations, saying they wanted "to stop the problems" and "we gave them approval for a period of time".
