On Thursday, ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan said that the national election, held in February, was stolen from his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. He termed it the “biggest robbery on public mandate” in the country

Khan (71) stressed that there were gross human rights violations against him and that his PTI party was being victimised.

He made these comments in the Supreme Court via video link from jail. The PTI founder also informed that he was in solitary confinement in Adyala jail in the garrison city of Rawalpindi.

In February’s national election in Pakistan, candidates backed by Khan’s party won the most seats. However, fell short of a majority, and his rival Shehbaz Sharif was able to form a government with the help of allied political parties.

Imran Khan was allowed by the Supreme Court to appear and plead petitions he had filed against amendments in Pakistan’s anti-graft laws.

The ex-prime minister of Pakistan has been speaking to a select group of journalists who are allowed to cover his trials that are being conducted inside the jail.

It is pertinent to mention here that these proceedings are not open to the general public.
