Bengaluru has been in talks about its sky-high rent prices and shrinking living spaces for a while now, but a viral video of a tiny 1BHK flat seems to have stunned the internet to its core while also making people laugh. Shared on Instagram, the video has a man guiding viewers through the tour of his tiny flat at Rs 25,000 a month that has left them in a disbelief.

In the video shared on Instagram a man stands in the center of the room, stretching out both arms as wide as he can. Then, in a funny demonstration, he shows that he can touch both walls simultaneously to stress on the fact that the flat is very small. He then shows how long the room is by stretching his foot to one wall and his hand to the other, illustrating how cramped the space is.

The balcony, too, comes as a surprise—a small slit that’s not big enough for a single person to stand in with ease. To that, the man adds some light humor: “Bhut fayde hai itne chote room ka—saman nahi le paaoge toh paisa bachega, kyunki loge toh rakhoge kaha?”

The internet responded with quick-witted and sarcastic comments on the issue. One quipped, “Isse bada toh mera toilet hai.” Another added, “Ye toh shuru hote hi khatam ho gaya.” A user joked, “Come to Mumbai,” but another added, “Mumbai bhi same hai .thode dino baad Pune Aisa hi jayega .and population aise hi badhti rahi toh saare cities same ho jayegi.”

This video comes on the heels of a viral clip from last year, which showed a cramped Mumbai apartment where a washing machine was placed above the commode, showcasing the city’s rapidly rising rents and extreme space limitations. Another unique flat in Mumbai also captured attention, located in Matunga. This 1BHK apartment featured a compact living room, a bedroom dominated by a bed that left almost no room to move, and a modest kitchen. A small staircase led to a loft providing additional storage in the otherwise tight quarters. That flat’s rent was Rs 45,000 per month.

As cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai continue to grapple with high rents and ever-shrinking spaces, these viral videos offer a humorous glimpse into the realities of urban living.
