A viral social media post shared by Priyanshu Tiwari has garnered a global reaction. US millionaire Bryan Johnson had an entirely different take on the late-night work culture glorified in Indian firms. The anti-ageing advocate, shut down the post which read, “It’s 4 AM guys, but builders are building, what’s your excuse?”
Johnson in disagreement, expressed how excessive work hours might “feel heroic” but he wasn’t impressed as it may largely impact health. “It may feel heroic but you’re spending down your human capacity. That posture reduces brain oxygen by 30%. The blue light suppress melatonin, fragments deep-sleep, blunts next-day insulin sensitivity. The missed sleep raises cortisol, increases visceral-fat and decays memory,” replied Johnson.

Netizens react
This exchanged received mixed reactions from the internet as netizens called Johnson a hypocrite for calling out young professionals with his current net-worth. Users called his reply privileged and shared , “Fair, but you’re only able to make this comment from the comfort of your longevity maxed out Venice villa because you did the same at one point.”
However, sleepless nights were condemned by another user who said, “Every hour of missed sleep, puts a layer of fog on my brain for the next day! Sleep is super important!”
“All true, but it seems a constant amongst founders. Can young people without a successful startup do it in the way you’ve learned?” questioned another used pointing out a rant-pattern against the younger generation making their way through work.
Adding further claims to the point of view, “It feels disingenuous to critique the path which gave you the position you are in,” a user commented under the post on X. Putting a humorous spin on the situation, a user posted “the bryan sleep police striked again”.
While late nights in office and putting in extra effort for office work is not uncommon in India, it does not remain an exclusive phenomena. The viral post had the internet divided as netizens scrambled to take a side. However, the feat of technological advancement in India remained subtly foreshadowed by the debate.
