A man, who said he has “seen the whole of India,” told an American YouTuber that one of his friends was advised by a US visa officer to explore India before applying for a visa to the United States. He added that, according to his friend, the officer remarked that once he travels across his country, he will grant him a visa to the United States.
‘I’ve seen whole of India’
“I’ve seen the whole of India. I’ve been to 29 states,” says the first man.
The person behind the camera says, “Someone like you, you’ve seen everything in India, and you love India so much,” before adding, “Maybe, just maybe, just see another country. You don’t have to go to the USA. The USA’s not that great.”
The first man admits that he wants to see the USA, but doesn’t want to settle down there.
‘See your own country first’
“One of my friends went to the US Embassy for an interview for a visa. He was asked a question by the officer over there. The officer asked him, ‘Why are you visiting the USA?’ So, he said, I want to see the USA. I want to see New York. Okay, have you seen your country?” he recalled.
The man added, “Which places in India have you been to? He said, ‘Only in Delhi. I was born in Delhi, so I’ve never seen anything.’ The visa officer told him, ‘Okay, you go and see your country first, then come to me. I’ll give you the visa.”
“And after that, I decided that I should see my country first,” the man further said.
How did social media users react?
“That’s really bad,” said one social media user.
Another added, “We have had decades of illegal immigrants coming on visas and never leaving. Then it takes years of legal action to deport them. It’s about time we do this.”
“Well, I think the officer is right. How can you visit other countries if you haven’t even seen the famous places in your own country?” commented a third.
