Samay Raina’s troubles over his now-deleted YouTube show India’s Got Latent show no signs of easing. Amid the controversy, the comedian has been delaying his return to India. He has now rescheduled his “Unfiltered” India tour, despite tickets being sold out in advance. He assured fans that refunds would be issued to those who had already purchased tickets.
Samay Raina made the announcement through his Instagram Story. He wrote, “Hello guys, I am rescheduling my India tour. You all will get the refunds shortly, see you soon.” He completed his post with a red heart and folded hands emoji.
Samay Raina’s India tour
According to BookMyShow, the comedian’s “Samay Raina Unfiltered” show is the last leg of the Unfiltered India tour. The 1.5-hour performance is strictly for audiences aged 18 and above.
Raina was originally set to perform in Delhi on March 21 and 23 at Talkatora Stadium, with both shows selling out before being cancelled.
Following threats from Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), his shows in Ahmedabad and Surat were also called off.
His performances in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, scheduled between March and April, have also been cancelled.
India’s Got Latent row
During an exclusive members-only show, YouTuber and podcast host Ranveer Allahbadia made inappropriate remarks that did not go down well with the Internet. “Watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life. Or would you join in once and stop it forever?” said Ranveer Allahbadia.
He even went as far as asking one of the contestants about the length of his p****.
The question even caught Raina off guard, despite his reputation for dark humour. “What the f***?” he reacted. Raina was even heard asking, “Kya ho gaya hai Ranveer bhai ko? [What has happened to Ranveer?]”
Allahbadia appeared as one of the panellists, along with YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, comedian Jaspreet Singh and content creator Apoorva Mukhija, who is popularly known as The Rebel Kid.
Samay Raina addressed the controversy
After the controversy, Samay Raina deleted all videos of his show from YouTube, saying that it was too much for him to handle. “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all Indias Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you,” he posted from his Twitter (now X) handle.
During one of his performances in Canada, Raina said, “Iss show pe bahot mauke aenge, jahan aapko lag sakta hai ki main bahot funny kuch bol sakta hoon, par tab Beerbiceps ko yaad kar lena [During this show there will be many opportunities where you will feel that I could say something very funny, but remember BeerBiceps during such times).”
He ended his two-hour show with the words, “Shayad samay kharab chal raha hai mera, par yaad rakhna doston, main samay hoon [Maybe my time is bad right now, but remember, my friends – I am time itself].”
After Allahbadia’s out-of-line questions, multiple complaints were filed against host Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia, and others.
Samay Raina has received a fresh summons from Maharashtra Cyber Cell after he failed to appear on March 19. “Maharashtra Cyber Cell sends YouTuber Samay Raina a third summons asking him to appear before them on 24th March for questioning,” ANI reported.
