Lallooji & Sons (LJS), a premier name in the event management industry, has been orchestrating large-scale religious events for over a century, earning recognition for their unparalleled expertise in the Kumbh Mela. The family-run business, founded in 1920, specializes in providing essential infrastructure, including tents, temporary accommodations, and large pandals, for events that host millions of attendees.

Roots of a Legacy

The story of LJS began when the company’s founder, Lallooji, was invited by Jawaharlal Nehru to set up tents in Delhi in 1920. Today, the business has evolved into a legacy spanning multiple generations and branches, with seven Lallooji-affiliated companies contributing to India’s event management landscape.

“We started as a tenting business over 100 years ago,” shared Yash Agarwal, Vice Admiral at LJS, in an interview with NDTV Profit. “Our first major project was the Kumbh Mela in 1921, and we have been a part of this historic event ever since.”

A Pillar of the Kumbh Mela

Currently helmed by Ajay and Yash Agarwal, LJS remains a cornerstone in organizing the infrastructure for the Kumbh Mela, held on the banks of the Ganges. Their contributions include providing nearly 95% of the tents, pipe sheds, and pandals spread across the 4,000-hectare festival area. They also manage accommodations for VIPs and facilities for 650 to 800 sansthas (religious organizations), making them indispensable to the event’s execution.

“Our main work revolves around constructing tin sheds, pipe pandals, and tents,” said Abhishek Pandey, a supervisor at LJS.

Beyond the Kumbh Mela

While the Kumbh Mela remains their flagship project, LJS has also been instrumental in other religious events, including the Jirawala Jain Pratishtha Mahotsav, Prakash Parv, and Shravani Mela. Their ability to manage vast infrastructure requirements, from sanitation systems and administrative blocks to post offices and restaurants, underscores their versatility and reliability.

Mastering Large-Scale Events

LJS’s comprehensive services extend to installing over 50,000 toilets for each Kumbh Mela and setting up temporary accommodations for government departments and participants. Their expertise has positioned them as a leader in handling events of immense magnitude, blending logistical efficiency with cultural sensitivity.

Preserving a Legacy of Excellence

As India’s go-to event managers for religious gatherings, LJS continues to enrich the spiritual experiences of millions while reinforcing their reputation for excellence. Their century-old legacy and unwavering commitment to quality ensure that they remain a vital part of India’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
