The event, held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, took a musical turn when senior Indonesian ministers, dressed in sharp suits and traditional Songkok headgear, serenaded the gathering with the beloved track from Karan Johar’s 1998 classic. Originally sung by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, the song brought a touch of warmth to the diplomats’ evening.

The banquet was organised in honour of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who is on his first state visit to India and serves as the Chief Guest for the 76th Republic Day celebrations. Republic Day 2025 Parade: 300 artisans kick-off parade
In a vibrant display of India’s rich cultural heritage, 300 artists dressed in colorful traditional attire kicked off the 76th Republic Day parade on Kartavya Path on Sunday. Marching to the soulful tune of Saare Jahan Se Achha, the artists showcased the nation’s unity in diversity through a captivating performance.
The group played a variety of indigenous musical instruments from across the country, creating a melodious blend that resonated throughout the iconic Kartavya Path. The performance was held in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the Chief Guest for this year’s celebrations, both of whom were seen applauding the display.
The ensemble included a wide range of traditional instruments, such as the Shehnai, Sundari, Nadaswaram, Been, Mashak Been, Ransingha, Flute, Karadi Majalu, Mohuri, Sankha, Tutari, Dhol, Gong, Nishan, Chang, Tasha, Sambal, Chenda, Idakka, Lezim, Thavil, Gudum Baza, Talam, and Monbah. This harmonious fusion of sounds highlighted the cultural diversity and unity of India.
Following the artists’ performance, the skies lit up as Mi-17 1V helicopters from the 129 Helicopter Unit flew over Kartavya Path in the Dhwaj formation, showering flower petals on the parade. Leading the aerial salute was Group Captain Alok Ahlawat, who proudly trooped the National Flag, adding a spectacular touch to the Republic Day celebrations.
