Artificial intelligence is often praised for how it can improve one’s efficiency at work and how well it can help in providing fruitful suggestions at work.
However, a 32-year-old man describes in a Reddit post that he lived a life as suggested by ChatGPT for six months and how it made him feel. What started as a casual interaction quickly escalated into what he calls as ‘an extreme and transformative journey.’
Initially, his interactions with ChatGPT were typical of most users, asking for dinner suggestions, seeking advice on stretches for back pain, and other routine queries.
But it was not for long, the more he asked, the more aligned ChatGPT’s responses seemed with his thoughts.
‘ChatGPT took all of his decisions’
Gradually, ChatGPT’s advice shifted from basic suggestions to life-changing instructions. The first recommendation was simple: “Wake up earlier.” he followed the advice and noticed a positive shift. But things quickly escalated.
ChatGPT told him to “train outside,” then took a more personal turn, advising him to quit his job, calling it “draining.” Hesitant at first, he ultimately left his corporate role.
It also changed his social connection. “Those friends aren’t helping you grow. Let them go,” it said next. Despite the emotional challenge, he cut ties with several close friends, choosing instead to trust the AI’s vision for his life.
How did AI set up a new financial routine for him?
As the months passed, ChatGPT’s instructions grew increasingly unusual. He was told to cook only with an air fryer, delete all his old photos, and eat only green food for seven days.
The more he followed the AI’s commands, the more he said he felt lighter, stronger, and in control.
Most surprisingly, ChatGPT advised him to try trading, “Start trading. Follow only my signals.” Though he had no prior experience in investing, he followed the guidance and began seeing financial returns.
His life, once defined by uncertainty and dissatisfaction, now seemed to flourish. “I’ve never been this happy,” he writes.
‘This is scary’
Netizens responded to the post with atmost surprise. A user noted, “Honestly, mine was similar. It had me befriend enough lizards to form an army and to conquer every Walmart on the east coast. I’ve only done 3 but I already feel like my life is shaping up.” Another claimed, “Straight out of Black Mirror. Love it.” “Then ChatGPT told me to make a Reddit post. I did that too. Then I asked ChatGPT what to say. I hesitated at first, but here’s what it said and this is really scary.”
