An Indian student in the US has posted on Reddit after being abandoned by his family and left homeless without ID or resources to return to India. He is currently in a shelter in Conway, Arkansas and is hoping to find a way back home.

Family Abandonment and Abuse Leave Him Helpless

According to his post, he came to the US on an F-1 student visa to study at University of Central Arkansas. He claims his family, especially his brother, used to emotionally and physically abuse him and controlled his finances and documents. After managing to escape the abusive environment he was left with no support system and became homeless.

His situation is critical. With no money and no access to his Indian passport (which he claims is lost) he says he can’t legally exit the US without help from Indian authorities. He has filed a police report for the lost passport and is staying at a local shelter trying to survive each day.

Consular Support Missing Despite Multiple Attempts

In his plea he has mentioned that he has been reaching out to Indian Consulate in Houston for weeks to get an Emergency Certificate that would allow him to go back home. But he claims there has been no response – no appointments, no calls back, no action.

He has also contacted Ministry of External Affairs through Madad grievance portal and his university’s international student office. But none of these efforts have yielded any result.

Help Needed from Officials and Community

He is now calling out for help from Indian consular officials, NGOs, journalists, human rights groups and community organizations. He is willing to provide every document to prove his identity including police report, student ID and proof of residence at the shelter. He is even willing to do a video call verification to prove his case.

“I just want to go back home safely and with dignity,” he wrote. His plea highlights the growing concern for international students who may fall through the cracks of diplomatic and immigration systems when left without family support.
