A post on X highlighted a growing concern among citizens about absenteeism in government offices. One user shared their experience while waiting for an appointment at a central government office at 10 am. The office was completely empty except for the caretaker who arrived at the same time.

The user posted on X, “I am sitting in a central government office for an appointment at 10 am and the entire office is empty. Except the caretaker who came at 10, not a single soul in office. Ye nation building karenge?”

Citizens Share Widespread Experiences

Responses to the post revealed similar incidents across the country. One X user commented, “The ideal scenario is if many regulations and discretionary powers are removed and the lawmakers and bureaucrats take their salary and chill for most of the year. Economy will grow.” Another user pointed out systemic issues, saying, “If the reported fact is true in the present times of biometric marking of attendance, then it is a failure of official supervision. In a lighter vein, the specified time of appointment must have been a result of inattention in fixing the appointment or mistake in communicating it.”

Concerns About Governance and Public Service

Other users expressed frustrations with inefficiency and alleged misuse of government resources. One wrote, “They still have enough reservation quota to steal from Upper cast Hindus to win elections for the next 3-4 terms. This is the silver bullet to win the election. Everything else they claim is just rhetoric that is not visible on the ground. When this nation implodes, the blame will be solely on OBC/ST/SCs for their uncontrolled greed and for becoming a willing vote bank of the highest bidder.” Another added, “One of my Friend is working an IT company which products are being used by DRDO Kanpur. He went afternoon and said employees are sleeping in floor. And it’s not lunch hour, employees kept sleeping for more than 2 hours till my frnd was there.”

Public Frustration Continues

Instances of disrespect toward citizens were also shared. One user said, “This is nothing sir! Here in Telangana I witnessed an old man was brutally misbehaved by none other than govt officer because he sat on the floor inside the office due to extreme heat as he was unable to stand in the queue!!” Another recounted, “I once went to to a government office in Gurgaon in noon. No one was there. Everyone had gone to some event headed by the chief minister. Why are the clerks required to go to the event? Bahane to skip work.”

These X posts paint a picture of inefficiency and absenteeism that is causing frustration among citizens, raising questions about accountability in public offices.
