Ira Jadhav, 14-year-old cricketer, etched her name in history by becoming the first Indian batter to score a triple century in U19 cricket. Representing Mumbai in the U19 Women’s One Day Trophy on Sunday, Jadhav stunned cricket fans with an unbeaten 346 off just 157 balls at the Alur Cricket Ground.
The teenager dismantled the Meghalaya bowling attack with ferocity, hitting 42 boundaries and 16 sixes during her marathon innings. Her knock propelled Mumbai to a staggering 563/3 in 50 overs, the highest score by any Indian women’s domestic team across all age groups. With this feat, Jadhav also shattered Smriti Mandhana’s record for the highest U19 score by an Indian.
Notably, Jadhav is the first Indian — male or female — to register a triple century in any BCCI-organised limited-overs tournament. Her journey began at the age of eight and despite her talent, she went unsold as one of the youngest entrants in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction.
Jadhav draws inspiration from Indian star Jemimah Rodrigues, calling her a role model. “I admire her energy, her leadership, and her composure on the field,” Jadhav shared. Dreaming of donning the Indian jersey, she aspires to represent the nation in the World Cup.
Reflecting on her early successes, Jadhav recalled a turning point—her first century of 163 in a mixed-gender game in Pune. “It gave me the confidence to believe in my abilities,” she said.
