The exclusion of Rinku Singh from the T20 World Cup 2024 squad has been criticised by several experts as well as from the fans. He has not been named in the 15-squad member but has been kept as a reserve by the BCCI.
In a recent interview, Singh mentioned the reason behind his exclusion from the team was because of the composition. He even revealed what interaction he had with Team India captain Rohit Sharma. ”Yes, anybody will feel bad for not being selected even after giving a good performance. I don’t have a problem with it, if things are not in your hand then one should not think too much about it. Yes, initially I was a bit worried. Whatever happens, happens for good. Rohit Bhaiya advised me to work hard as the World Cup is in two years, and there is no need to worry too much about it,’’ Singh said in an interview with Dainik Jagran.
Singh’s performance in the IPL season was not that good as he didn’t get many chances to bat and managed to score 168 runs only. Nevertheless, Kolkata Knight Riders ended up lifting the coveted trophy.
Responding to the IPL victory, he said that he was feeling outstanding, his dream had been fulfilled, and he had been here for seven years and the team was very happy. Singh credits the victory to GG Sir (Gautam Gambhir) and said that he will finally get the honour to lift the IPL trophy.
