Suryakumar Yadav, the top-ranked T20 batsman globally, credited his daring range of shots against Royal Challengers Bangalore to “muscle memory” and consistent practice in the nets.

Yadav showcased brilliance with a 19-ball 52, featuring four sixes and five fours, as he played a pivotal role in helping the Mumbai Indians successfully chase down Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 197 runs target in 15.3 overs.

“I just try to play the field. I practice these shots. It is in my muscle memory,” Yadav said after MI’s seven-wicket win in the IPL on Thursday night.

When discussing his favorite shot in the match against RCB, Yadav mentioned that he enjoyed all of them, with the slice over point being his standout choice.

Yadav participated in his second IPL match after returning from a sports hernia surgery.

“It is always good to be back in Wankhede. Joining the squad was great. Mentally I was here, just physically in Bangalore (for recovery at NCA), he said.

“Coming at Wankhede, chasing 200, if there is dew it is important to take a chance. We wanted to finish early for the net run rate,” said the 33-year-old.

When discussing Jasprit Bumrah’s five-wicket haul, Yadav emphasized the value of having Jasprit on the team. He mentioned that in the past 2 to 3 years, he hasn’t faced Jasprit in the nets, jokingly adding that it’s because Jasprit tends to either break his bat or his foot.

Yadav commented on Ishan Kishan’s remarkable innings, noting that they had advised him to simply go out and enjoy his game. He praised Kishan’s excellent intent and emphasized that he is reaping the rewards of his approach.
