Rio 2016 Olympics India’s Day 4 schedule: The Indian flag is flying proudly high despite the Olympic contingent not being able to procure a medal even by day 3. And today, day 4, trying to make her luck change for the better will be India’s shooter Heena Sidhu who will be participating in the 25m pistol event (Check Shooting Coverage Below). Earlier, the amazing fightbacks effected by shooter Abhinav Bindra and the Indian men’s hockey team, albeit in a losing cause, was so impressive that the opponents themselves were left amazed to the core. The other Indian athletes tried their best but failed to put up a good show. However, all of that is history ad there is so much more left to fight for – the foremost being pride of the country. Day 4 as such dawns with so much more in store. The Indians will be stepping out boldly to participate in a number of exciting events and the Indian fans will be right behind them, cheering them on to ever greater heights of achievement. With such backing behind them, the athletes will be raring to go and do well not just for themselves but also for the entire nation.

* SHOOTING: #5:30pm: Heena Sidhu (25m pistol women) – One of India’s hottest medal prospects is Heena Sidhu. While she famously failed to deliver a medal to the country in her  initial outing in the 10m air pistol event, Heena will be seen in action again today and this time she will be participating in the 25m pistol event. Needless to say, she is expected to  do much better this time around, but she will have to get used to the conditions and the competitors from the word go.

Heena Sidhu Live at Rio Olympics 2016 at the Shooting Range:

* Heena combo total stands at a not very comfortable 576 with both stages concluded; ELIMINATED!

* Heena Sidhu sees the writing on the wall, manages to shoot just a 96 during the final rapid series. and stands 18th after managing to secure a combined 290.

* Heena now ranked at the 19th spot; where does it leave her? In an uncomfortable place indeed

* Heena Sidhu shoots another 97 in the second series.

* Heena Sidhu is doing better now, but she has to raise her game to the maximum, there is no option – perform or perish

* Heena Sidhu shoots 97 in the first series – better, but not enough to get her back into the reckoning

* Heena Sidhu in the arena again; she must improve and improve fast in the rapid round and hope the others who are leading don’t do as well

* Really bad news for Heena as she has fallen as low as the 30th spot after all the other shooters finish their series; slim chances of qualification; elimination likely

* The next round (rapid fire) will start around 8.30 pm IST.

* Heena will have to really do well too pick up her rank and bring it into the high single digits. At the moment the going is tough for her

* Leading the pack is Bobana Velickovic with a score of 295.

* The precision round is over as Series 3 comes to close.

* Heena moves higher to 15th spot; competition set to get stronger

* Heena’s combo score in precision stage is 286; it is not going to be good enough to get her into medal-winning positions. She is capable of posting better performances, but she is not being able to put that into practice

* Heena goes a little better than last 2 times but not enough; scores 96 in the third series

* Heena is focussed and the concentration is showing on her face; however, is too stiff, must relax

* ROWING: #5:00pm: Dattu Baban Men’s Single Sculls quarterfinals – After a magnificent performance on Saturday when rower Dattu Baban Bhokanal entered the quarterfinals of  the Men’s Single Sculls after finishing third in his qualifying round of the Olympics in Rio, he will again be seen in action today to progress further. He must well rested and the  previous performance will be a big booster shot. In the first heat on Saturday, Armyman Bhokanal finished the 2000m race with a timing of 7:21.67s.

* ARCHERY: #8:06pm: Atanu Das (1/32 Elimination) – The Indian archers have promised so much at the Olympics even achieved some small wins, but their medal challenge has been  stymied time and again. Stepping out into this kind of negative atmosphere will be Atanu Das, but he will surely to wipe the past failures of other athletes out of his mind and focus  instead on his on form and try to do the best possible.

* BOXING: #2:45am: Vikas Krishan (75kg) – The Indian boxing challenge will be in the form of Vikas Krishan. On his broad shoulders and big fists will be the responsibility of making a strong challenge in the face of some of the best pugilists in the world. This is a tough game and only the most courageous and those who have trained with dedication and know  how to overcome the pain will be able to progress further. Indians in fact have emerged as a big force in boxing over the recent years.

* HOCKEY: #7:30pm: India vs Argentina men’s hockey match – After the heartbreak against Germany when India succumbed to a last gasp goal, the Indian hockey men’s team led by  captain PR Sreejesh will have to get their strength and the motivation back. Hanging onto a disappointment will only worsen things for the team and the fans. India may have lost  a match they should have easily won, but today they face Argentina, which is a good team and can punish laggards as well as those whose mind s not on the job at hand.
