A shocking moment at the US Open has put Polish businessman Piotr Szczerek in the global limelight and not for the right reasons. After Polish tennis player Kamil Majchrzak defeated ninth seed Karen Khachanov, he walked over to the crowd to give a signed cap to a young fan.

But before the boy could reach out, Szczerek, CEO of paving company Drogbruk, grabbed the cap and tucked it away in his partner’s bag.

Szczerek, co-founded Drogbruk in 1999, turning it into a leader in the paving industry. His company has supported local sports projects, sponsored tennis tournaments, and even launched programs to help young athletes.

The clip went viral, and fans blasted the act as “entitled,” “disgusting,” and “a disgrace to sportsmanship.” Many even called on the US Open to ban Szczerek from future matches.

Kamil Majchrzak’s response

Majchrzak later posted on Instagram asking for help, “Please help me find the boy. I want to give him another cap and make things right.” The child was found within an hour and received a replacement cap from the player. Fans praised Majchrzak’s quick response.

‘What kind of behaviour is this?’

Netizens slammed the Polish CEO’s behavious. A user wrote on X, “What kind of man you have to be to steal another grown mans hat from a kid who is his fan. I mean… that’s level 1000 on a scale from 1 -100. This man baby should be shamed.”

Another added, “How about finding this guy who stole it and barring him from all future matches!.” “That man’s whole world is about to change. It won’t take long,” claimed a netizen. “Horrible shame on that guy stealing from a child,” added a user.

“Soon, the world will run out of responsible adults due to entitlement and instant gratification culture. Hope he finds this coward grown man who snatched the cap,” wrote a user. “imagine being a grown man stealing a hat from a kid like bro your childhood wasn’t that bad calm down,” added another.
