Kavya Maran, owner of SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), yesterday in IPL 2024 playoffs qualifier 2 match between SRH and Rajasthan Royals (RR), was seen in a serious mood right from the start. Her impassioned expressions of emotion during the games have drawn a lot of attention on social media. Maran was spotted in ecstatic joy when SRH advanced to the finals by defeating Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs in the qualifier 2, that was her happiest moment.
What happened in the match?
After being put into bat, SRH scored 175/9 on the challenging MA Chidambaram track in Chennai. Based on the IPL 2024 averages, a score of 175 was deemed to be around average, and at the halfway point, the consensus was that SRH were likely 15 runs short of their desired total.
However, the SRH bowlers got off to a strong start, stopping the RR openers and taking Tom Kohler-Cadmore wicket. But in the chase, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 21-ball, 42-run explosion tipped the scales in favour of RR.
Subsequently, SRH captain Pat Cummins introduced the spinners Abhishek Sharma and Shahbaz Ahmed, and it proved to be the winning combination.
RR collapsed to 92/6 in 13.4 overs after dominating at 65/1 in 7/4 overs.
SRH to face KKR again!
After this win, SRH will again face two-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday, May 26, at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai as both teams will square off.
KKR defeated SRH on May 21, handily to advance to the grand final. But SRH earned a chance at atonement as they finished among the top two teams in the points standings and qualified for the IPL 2024 championship.
