IPL 2023, Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Punjab Kings Live Score: So it has happened. After two humiliating defeats including one at the home ground, Sunrisers Hyderabad have finally registered a stunning victory in the ongoing IPL 2023 on Sunday. This was their first-ever win of the season after their clinical performance broke the winning streak of Punjab Kings. With the Sunday results, no team remains upbeat in IPL 2023 now. Earlier in the day, Kolkata Knight Riders had stunned defending champs Gujarat Titans. Those five sixes by KKR’s Rinku Singh ended the 100 per cent winning record of Gujarat Titans.
Back in Hyderabad, a lot was being discussed as both teams went for the toss. PBKS were the clear favourites due to their 2023 performance so far. So when SRH won the toss and skipper Aiden Markram decided to send PBKS to bat, many were wondering if that was the right call. Just after the toss, PBKS skipper Shikhar Dhawan had said that he also wanted to bat first so that the Kings would be able to put a big target for the home team.
Indian Premier League, 2023
Sunrisers Hyderabad
145/2 (17.1)
Punjab Kings
143/9 (20.0)
Match Ended ( Day – Match 14 )
Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Punjab Kings by 8 wickets
But that statement didn’t age well! Prabhsimran Singh got out on the very first ball of the match. Ace seamer Bhuneshwar Kumar got that wicket and put pressure on the visitors. After that golden duck, PBKS batting just floundered. It was Mayank Markande’s splendid spell that demolished PBKS’ batting lineup. With figures of 4 for 15, Markande did a superb job.
As the wickets tumbled, only one man kept standing tall – Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhwan. His unbeaten 99 helped PBKS to reach a respectable total. Despite the loss, as recognition of his fine innings, Dhawan was awarded man of the match.
After the bowlers show, SRH batters made sure that their efforts didn’t go in vain. While the Sunrisers had a slow start as they lost the openers fairly early in the game, Rahul Tripathi and skipper Aiden Markram took the task of guiding the team to that elusive win. Tripathi’s 74 off 48 deliveries along with stable support of Markram helped the Sunrisers to win the match by 8 wickets with 17 balls remaining.
Here are the key moments of SRH vs PBKS IPL match 14:
Rahul Tripathi's boundary helped Sunrisers Hyderabad to post their first win of the season as they defeated Punjab Kings with 18 balls remaining. Tough luck for PBKS as Shikhar Dhawan's unbeaten 99 goes in vain!
Those boundaries by Aiden Markram show the class act. Absolutely delightful
Rahul Tripathi is a well-set batter right now and he is reading every ball and smashing those much-needed big shots. Shikhar Dhawan has brought back Sam Curran.
SRH skipper Aiden Markram is here and lot depends on his partnership with Rahul Tripathi. Right now, they look completely i control. Couple of big shots can help them to get closer to the target but the bowling attack of PBK that include likes of Arshdeep Singh and Sam Curran can change the game any moment.
It just over 7 right now. Both Rahul Tripathi and Mayank Agarwal now that they can keep the pressure off if they steal singles punctuated by some big shots. Apart from Arshdeep Singh, no Punjab Kings bowler has been able to get Sunrisers batters.
Harry Brook (13) goes back to pavilion. In comes Rahul Tripathi. Some pressure on Sunrisers?
Both Agarwal and Brook are rotating the strike to keep the momentum going for Sunrisers. No loss of the wicket for SRH as of now.
Harry Brook and Mayank Agarwal are opening for SRH. Sam Curran is bowling the first over. Brook hits a four on the very first delivery!
Shikhar Dhawan played one of the finest knocks of his career as he made 99 (not out) against Sunrisers Hyedrebad.
This must be one of the toughest 50 by PBKS skipper. Yes, he is in form and yes, he is smashing shots but is that enough? For the record, Punjab Kings have finally reached the triple-digit score.
Yup, Punjab Kings have lost another wicket in form of Rahul Chahar. Total surrender by Punjab Kings in front of terrific bowling by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Can SRH restrict PBKS within 100?
Our last update didn't age well! Before Sikandar Raza could make an impact and add some runs to PBK total, Umran Malik got him. This is what nightmares are made of! And guess who got Raza's catch? Mayank Agrawal, the ex-captain of PBKS in last season of IPL.
A decision forced on Punjab Kings? After dismal show by batters, PBKS have introduced 'Impact sub' Sikandar Raza to help Shikhar Dhawan in getting some runs on the board.
After 22 of 16, Sam Curran got out on a brilliant ball by Mayank Markande. Punjab Kings are on shaky grounds from here on.
Sam Curran0 - the costliest overseas player of IPL 2023 - has a lot to show. He did really well with ball during the Guwahati clash against RR. Today, it's time to do talking with the bat. he has picked up couple of boundaries so far.
Marco Jansen strikes again! HE scalps Jitesh Sharma. This Punjab Kings batter had played a key role in Guwahati match. But no such luck today. While Shikhar Dhawan is still at crease, he would need some stable partnership to overcome these powerplay jolts.
Marco Jansen gets Mathew Short! No relief for Punjab Kings batters at the moment. Things could have been worst but the decison of OUT has been overruled and Jitesh Sharma survives!
Punjab Kings lost its very first wicket in form of opener Prabhsimran Singh to very first ball of SRH's Bhuneshawar Kumar! Sunrisers are very upbeat with this early success.
Punjab Kings openers - skipper Shikhar Dhawan and young player Prabhsimran Singh - are on the pitch. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will bowl the first over
1 Shikhar Dhawan (captain), 2 Prabhsimran Singh, 3 Matthew Short, 4 Jitesh Sharma (wk), 5 M Shahrukh Khan, 6 Sam Curran, 7 Nathan Ellis, 8 Harpreet Brar, 9 Rahul Chahar, 10 Mohit Rathee, 11 Arshdeep Singh

Impact subs - Glenn Phillips, Akeal Hosein, Upendra Yadav, Abdul Samad, Mayank Dagar
So what's latest that we know about Punjab Kings playing XI. Official list will be out anytime now. What we know is that Nathan Ellis has found the spot once again. Rabada has been selected as impact sub. Bhanuka Rajapaksa has bee replaced by Matt Short.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have won the toss and have elected to bowl first. After winning the toss, SRH skipper Aiden Markram said that it would be easy to chase.
Its breezy, dry conditions in Hyderabad right now. At 36 degree C, there will be a little bit of swing with new ball. Looks like the side that win the toss would like to bat first. Countdown to toss has begun.
Nope, we are not talking about 2022. It was the year 2016 when SRH began their IPL campaign with two back-to-back losses. When everyone was writing them off, they emerged as the winner after beating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 runs. So far, it is the same story. SRH remain winless. So, we wonder, it is just a Deja vu?
The last time these two teams face eache other, Punjab Kings had defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 5 wickets. That match was held on May 22nd last year.
Even though SRH have not seen any success this year, if we look at the past records of SRH vs PBKS clashes, the Sunrisers look a much stronger team. Of the total 20 matches that they have played, SRH have won 13 times whereas PBKS scored win in seven games. If we look at the SRH's track record vs PBK in Hyderabad, the stats stand at 6-1.
