Things continue to go downhill for Delhi Capitals as they suffered a substantial 106-run defeat against KKR, with their skipper Rishabh Pant also being fined ₹24 lakh for his second over-rate violation in the ongoing 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

“Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on April 3,” the IPL said in an issued statement.

The statement mentioned that besides the captain, other players from the Delhi-based franchise, including the impact player, were also fined ₹6 lakhs or 25% of their respective match fees.

“As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pant was fined INR 24 lakhs. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakhs or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser,” it added.

Where is DC on the points table?

As of now, Delhi Capitals find themselves positioned at the 9th spot in the points table of the ongoing IPL season. Their journey so far has been rather underwhelming, marked by a sole victory and three defeats. Interestingly, the only team trailing them is RCB. Delhi Capitals’ Net Run Rate (NRR) stands at -1.347, reflecting the challenges they’ve faced in maintaining a competitive edge in the tournament.
