India vs South Africa ODI Squad: The BCCI on Sunday announced India’s ODI squad for the upcoming South Africa series and confirmed KL Rahul as captain for the 50-over format. The change comes after regular skipper Shubman Gill was ruled out due to a neck injury sustained during the Kolkata Test last week. Rahul, who has previously led India in limited-overs cricket, returns to the role at a crucial juncture in the series.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, fresh off strong performances against Australia, have retained their spots in the ODI squad. However, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been given a rest to manage workload ahead of a packed cricketing calendar.

India vs SA ODI series starts from Nov 30

The ODI series between India and South Africa will begin on November 30 in Ranchi, followed by matches in Raipur on December 3 and Visakhapatnam on December 6. India will then switch to T20Is, starting December 9 in Cuttack. The tour continues with games in New Chandigarh on December 11, Dharamsala on December 14 and Lucknow on December 17. The final will take place in Ahmedabad on December 19.

India’s ODI full squad: Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma, KL Rahul (C/WK), Rishabh Pant (WK), Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Dhruv Jurel

Injured skipper

Gill’s injury has also ruled him out of the second Test against South Africa, with Rishabh Pant stepping in as captain in his absence. The 26-year-old opener hurt his neck while batting in the first Test at Kolkata and did not take part in South Africa’s second innings or India’s chase of 124 runs.

Gill was taken to a Kolkata hospital after Day 2 and discharged the following day. The BCCI confirmed that he will travel with the team to Guwahati, where he will continue to be monitored by the medical staff.
