Smriti Mandhana vice-captain of India women’s cricket team, has broken the record for the fastest hundred ever hit by an Indian in ODI cricket history. During the match against Australia on Sunday, Mandhan scored a century within 50 balls. She has now become Indian cricket player for the fastest century in both women’s and men’s divisions.
In the final game of the three-match series, while India was chasing a record target of 413, Smriti Mandhana delivered fastest century in her carrer-breaking performance. She smashed the fastest century ever by an Indian in men’s or women’s ODI history, With a sweeping six over midwicket.
Century in India vs Australia
Smriti Mandhana’s 50-ball century against Australia was the second-fastest in the history of women’s ODIs, trailing only Meg Lanning’s 45-ball record from the 2012/13 season. This 100 run came at the Arun Jaitley Stadium came as India chased a daunting target of 413 runs in the series decider.
After the early wickets of Pratika Rawal and Harleen Deol, Mandhana and captain Harmanpreet Kaur built a formidable partnership. Mandhana’s innings, included 17 fours and 5 sixes, came to an end when she was dismissed by spinner Grace Harris for 125 runs, caught at the leg-side boundary.
