Suryakumar Yadav will miss the first round of the Duleep Trophy 2024-25 due to an injury in the pre-season fixtures for Mumbai at the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament in Coimbatore. He was injured in a match against TNCA XI last week. He did not bat in the second innings due to a hand injury he got the third day while fielding.

He is currently at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for recovery and has been advised to rest. In his 82 first-class matches, he scored 5,628 runs with an average of 43.62 and registered 14 centuries. He has always made the long format his priority.

Long Format Cricket

The 33-year-old, Indian T20 captain stated that he always prioritizes red-ball cricket. He also mentioned the local cricket he played in the Mumbai grounds and where he started playing with the Red ball in those areas. He expressed his love for the long-format cricket.

He mentioned his long journey of playing first-class matches for more than ten years and he is still fond of playing that format.

Yadav reported his unavailability for the trophy to NCA as he was about to play for India C against India D at Ananthapur in the first round from September 5 to 8. Similarly, India A and B will play at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
