India’s Navdeep Singh secured the silver medal with a personal best throw of 47.32 meters in the men’s javelin throw F41 final at the Paris Paralympics on Saturday.
After starting the competition with a foul, the 23-year-old para-athlete from Haryana delivered a throw of 46.39 meters on his second attempt, moving him into second place. However, it was his third throw that stole the show.
With an impressive throw of 47.32 meters, Navdeep shattered the Paralympic record and briefly took the lead, only for Iran’s Beit Sayah Sadegh to surpass his mark with a record-breaking throw of 47.64 meters on his fifth attempt, securing the gold. Navdeep’s silver medal brought India’s total medal count at the Paralympics to 29, which includes six golds, 10 silvers, and 13 bronzes, further strengthening the country’s standing in the prestigious event.
