Indian Air Force (IAF) Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla returned to New Delhi on Sunday morning after completing his two-week mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS) in June-July. He arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport, where he was received by Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
Later in the day, Shukla is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi before proceeding to his hometown, Lucknow. He will be back in the national capital later this month to participate in the National Space Day celebrations on August 22-23. (Image: PTI) -

Shubhanshu Shukla began his journey to the ISS on June 25, as part of the Axiom-4 mission. The SpaceX Falcon rocket carrying the crew, including Shukla, lifted off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre in Florida and successfully docked with the ISS on June 26. (Image: PTI)

During his 18-day stay aboard the ISS, Shubhanshu Shukla conducted scientific experiments and took part in international collaborations before returning to Earth in mid-July. Working alongside astronauts from the US, Poland, and Hungary, he carried out 60 experiments on behalf of 31 countries, including seven from India. With this mission, Shukla became the second Indian to travel to space after Rakesh Sharma’s historic journey in 1984. (Image: PTI)
