From coast to coast, Americans took to the streets in a sweeping wave of “No King” protests, timed to coincide with President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday and Flag Day. Tens of thousands rallied across major cities including Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia demanding the defence of democratic values and voicing strong opposition to what they view as rising authoritarianism under Trump’s leadership.
Protesters carried placards, chanted slogans, and displayed provocative imagery such as upside-down American flags and golden toilet caricatures of Trump. Messages like “We Don’t Do Kings” and “Fight Oligarchy” echoed through the streets.
While the majority of demonstrations were peaceful, some escalated into tense confrontations with law enforcement, resulting in arrests. The protests followed a week of national unrest fuelled by immigration raids and controversial military deployments.
