With hardly any competition in theatres worth the name, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Sarbjit box office collections have risen to Rs 27.38 cr by day 11. The rivals against which Sarbjit had to battle for cine-goers' attention were Veerappan (Rs 5.95 cr), Phobia (Rs 1.24 cr), Waiting (Rs 1.3 cr) and Azhar (Rs 32.7 cr). None of these films, except Azhar, had made much of an impact on the B.O., leaving the field open to Sarbjit. (Bollywood Hungama)

Sarbjit box office collections (total gross) rise to Rs 43.88 cr, when worldwide earnings are added to the sum. Sarbjit stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Randeep Hooda and Richa Chadha in a film based on the story of an Indian who strayed across the border into Pakistan and was thereafter incarcerated in a jail there for years after having been accused of spreading terror. Aishwarya plays the role of his sister and it charts her efforts to win freedom for him. The role of the wife is played by Richa Chadha. (Bollywood Hungama)
Sarbjit box office collections never managed to jump above the average level. In fact, it could not break into the 2-figure amount even once, the highest being Rs 5.71 cr. Sarbjit was well received by critics with both Aishwarya and Randeep coming in for much praise and the rest of the star cast playing a good supporting role. Reacting after the release of the film, Aishwarya said, "If films like this, find an audience, then it will give the people in the industry the confidence to continue telling stories like this. Otherwise it will dilute the attitude all together. People will lose faith in investing. It is an industry end of the day; it is investment versus returns." Aishwarya was speaking to ANI. Sarbjit movie's run will come to an end on Friday, 3rd June, 2016 with the release of comedy film Housefull 3, which stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Lisa Haydon, Nargis Fakhri, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff and Chunky Pandey and which will be released under the Eros International and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner.
