The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Aadhaar app is now helping users access their Aadhaar digitally with enhanced privacy and security. The app allows individuals to carry their Aadhaar card on their smartphones, eliminating the need for a physical copy.
Custom Privacy Controls and Family Access
The app comes with biometric authentication and face unlock for secure access. Users can view their own Aadhaar details and those of family members registered under the same mobile number. “For privacy, users will also get the option to hide information that may not be required at any given time. For instance, if only your name and photo is needed, you can hide other details such as address and date of birth,” UIDAI said.
Offline Use and Easy Access
The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Some features of the app are available offline, making it convenient for users without continuous internet access. While initial setup requires internet, once Aadhaar details are loaded, the app can be reopened offline to view necessary information. Full functionality, however, requires an internet connection.
