Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu gave women passengers some reasons to cheer for in his Rail Budget 2016 speech. To make their travel light and comfortable, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu announced children’s menu items on trains on a pilot basis.

In a welcome move, Suresh Prabhu said baby foods, hot milk and hot water would be made available on stations. Changing boards for babies would also be a feature in train toilets.

Suresh Prabhu while announcing the Janani Sewa said, “We would like to mitigate the hardships that mothers undergo while travelling with their infants and, for this purpose, we will pilot availability of children’s menu items on trains. Further baby foods, hot milk and hot water would be made available on stations and changing boards for babies would be provided in train toilets.”

Women passenegers have hailed the Railway Budget move by Suresh Prabhu. Delhi-based Kainat Ahmad said, “With Suresh Prabhu’s women-friendly move, my travel to my hometown in Siliguri would be comfortable and without any worries. I would no longer carry heavy baby bags with hot water and milk thermas for my 2-year-old. Changing boards will work like mall hopping and would keep us stress free on our baby hygiene.

Suresh Prabhu also announced 33 per cent reservation to women in reserved quota in Railways which will make bookings easier for women passenger.
