Born and raised in Pune, Shantanu Naidu earned his engineering degree from Savitribai Phule Pune University in 2014. Subsequently, he pursued a Master’s in Business Administration from Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management in 2016. After completing his education, Naidu began his career as an automobile design engineer at Tata Elxsi in Pune.
In a notable turn of events, Shantanu Naidu, while working at Tata Elxsi, encountered the issue of dog fatalities due to speeding vehicles. Inspired to address this problem, he conceptualized the idea of creating collars for dogs that would enhance their visibility at night, even in the absence of streetlights.
To garner support for his innovative venture, Naidu penned a letter to Ratan Tata outlining his business proposal. Remarkably, Ratan Tata not only responded but also invited Naidu for a meeting to discuss the venture.
This encounter marked the beginning of a friendship between two avid dog lovers and eventually led to Naidu securing a position as Ratan Tata’s assistant and later as a general manager.
In addition to his roles within the Tata Group, Shantanu Naidu ventured into entrepreneurship, founding the startup Goodfellows. The startup, aimed at assisting senior citizens, has reportedly garnered an estimated worth of Rs 5 crore. Ratan Tata, displaying his support for Naidu’s initiatives, has also invested in this new venture.
