Xiaomi, which has garnered the reputation of launching high-performing gadgets, unveiled Mi Pad, its first tablet, in India on Thursday priced at Rs 12,999, Xiaomi MiPad will be available on March 24 at Flipkart – no registration is required.
The Xiaomi Mi Pad comes with 2.2 GHz quad core NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor that uses the same Kepler GPU architecture found in next-gen PC gaming. and a 6700 mAh Lithium-ion Polymer battery inside the device, which the company claims gives 11 hours of video streaming, 17 hours of reading, 86 hours of music playback or 50 days on standby mode.

The tablet packs a 7.9-inch IPS high resolution display, weighing 360 gm, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 2GB RAM and 16GB Flash (expandable to 128GB via microSD card). It also features 8MP Sony BSI rear camera and 5MP front camera.
With 2048 x 1536 resolution at 326 pixels per inch (PPI), the 8.5 mm-thin Mi Pad’s IPS high resolution display renders text and images beautifully for reading an e-book, browsing the web, watching videos or playing games. The 4:3 aspect ratio also makes it compatible with most mainstream games and apps.
The Mi Pad tablet has 8MP rear and 5MP front camera.
Mi Pad is also fully compatible with Word, Excel and PowerPoint, WPS Office lets you directly edit and manage documents, even on Dropbox, Google Drive and other cloud storage platforms. A user can work and sync it across all other devices in real time.

Alongside Mi Pad, Xiaomi today also launched the new version of its budget smartphone, Redmi 2, at a price point of Rs 6,999. The maiden sale of the device is on March 24, exclusively on Flipkart, for which registration is required.

Xiaomi, whose low-priced but feature-rich smartphones like Redmi Note 4G and Mi4 have made it the biggest smartphone vendor in China, entered India in July and sells its phones primarily through flash sales on online retailer Flipkart.com.
