Snapchat, the popular camera-based app might be planning to create video game kind of characters for your ‘stories’ in the app, and that too with 3-dimensional appearance. The speculation regarding this has grown after Business Insider noticed the job listing on Snapchat’s website. The Snapchat website has suddenly listed quite a few 3D centric jobs, which means it is looking to hire people with expertise in that area. The listing includes posts like 3D Designer, Visual Effects Designer, 3D Animator, 3D Lighting and Rendering Artist, 3ds Max Character Animator, 3ds Max Character Rigger, 3ds Max Morph Modeler, 3D UI/UX Engineer Character Digital Sculptor and Interface Designer for 3D Tools.
Interestingly, the job description, among may other things, means that making 3D sculpt character will become an important part in shaping the way ‘Snapchat tells visual stories’. Snapchat had recently been touted as one of the most secretive major companies in the world of technology. With its new features and especially the all new ‘camera lenses’, i is clear that Snapchat wants to be a pioneer in visionary computing and augmented reality. An interesting job available at Snapchat says ‘performance capture specialist’ who is expected by the company to ‘develop internal and external tools to support the creation of new Snapchat experiences’. This is a position which is usually present as a job in video game companies. Snapchat has also recently acquired the Seene app which lets you take 3D selfies.
