GOOGLE CHROMECAST, the media streaming device, which connects to an HDTV via the HDMI port and lets users stream content from their phones, tablets or laptops to their TV, has been launched in India. The device is essentially a small thumb-drive-like stick that can be plugged into an HDMI port on LED/LCD TVs. It allows users to stream content from video services like Hulu, Netflix, Google’s YouTube and content from Google Play (US services like Netflix and Hulu don’t work in India unless you have Apple TV). Google India has partnered with Airtel and Snapdeal to bring the Chromecast to India. The company had chosen the Great Online Shopping Festival event that took place from December 10 to 12 to launch the Chromecast in the Indian market priced at R2,999.
