Chinese consumer tech giant Xiaomi has announced a replacement to MIUI, and it’s called HyperOS. This comes after Xiaomi’s Global VP Alvin announced that Xiaomi HyperOS will replace MIUI and come pre-installed with the latest Xiaomi 14 series. The launch is expected next month.
Furthermore, Xiaomi’s Founder and CEO Lei Jun also announced the update. He writes on X (formerly, Twitter), “Today marks a historic moment. After years of collective work, our new operating system, Xiaomi Hyper OS, is set to make its official debut on the Xiaomi 14 Series. (sic)”

Xiaomi’s HyperOS reportedly won’t just be a smartphone OS or custom skin replacement, and it would rather extend to a wide product range across over 200 categories, including smart home devices, cars, and more.
It is now confirmed that the Xiaomi 14 series smartphone will be the first one to ship with the latest and upcoming Xiaomi Hyper OS. However, would this be China exclusive or come to more markets, there’s no clarity over it. But one thing—a layman’s guess—would be that MIUI will gradually fade. So, it’s time to bid a sweet goodbye to a 13-year companion.
Another Chinese smartphone firm OnePlus (that comes under the BBK Electronics umbrella) ships its global releases with OxygenOS however when it comes to China, the phones boot up to ColorOS.

There have also been rumours recently about MiOS but it seems that the company has shifted its focus on Xiaomi Hyper OS, and it is likely to come to India if Xiaomi India or Xiaomi India’s Associate Director Sandeep Sharma’s repost on X has to be taken into consideration.
At the moment, we don’t know what HyperOS would look like, or whether would it carry forward the legacy of MIUI. Further, would it use an Android version-based OS like OxygenOS, OneUI, or Funtouch OS or move to AOSP like Harmony OS?
