Ahead of the highly anticipated launch of the Nothing Phone (3), company CEO and co-founder Carl Pei is worried about the rising competition from the Trump T1 smartphone. In a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), Pei said, “We’re cooked.”
He added, “Phone (3) has some competition now.” Alongside, Pei shared an image that shows Trump Mobile bearing the American flag and the words, “Make America Great Again.”
He also praised the device’s design and performance. “This phone is unbelievable. Fast, beautiful, does everything. People are switching -they’re tired of junk. It’s a total winner. Everyone loves it.’’

Pei’s comment has come just ahead of Nothing’ launch time for the Phone (3), expected in early July. The phone will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, a 6.5-inch 120 Hz AMOLED display, AI-driven advancement, and an estimated price of EUR 800. With T1 entering the $500 smartphone arena and gaining compliments from industry competitors, the Nothing Phone (3) may need to hone its value proposition.
All about the new player-T1 Smartphone
On June 16, the Trump organisation launched its first smartphone, called as T1 phone, along with a new mobile service called “Trump Mobile’’. The mobile is priced at $499 and is operating on Android 15. Its special features include a 6.78-inch AMOLED display, a 5000 mAh battery, a 120 Hz refresh rate, a triple camera setup led by a 50 MP sensor, which is assembled in the US and has been called “Made in America”, 12 GB RAM, and a boost of 256 GB storage. The T1 also supports microSD expansion and has a headphone jack.
While some smartphone enthusiasts and social media users view it as a “cheap iPhone copy,” others point out that the inclusion of a microSD and headphone jack adds to the value.
