Vivo has launched the X100 series in China, right on schedule. The lineup is headlined by the Vivo X100 Pro with what seems like the world’s most powerful zoom camera smartphone at the time of writing. The Vivo X100 is also tagging along at a relatively lower price tag with the same specs mostly. The Vivo X100 Pro starts at CNY 4999 (roughly Rs 57,100). The Vivo X100 starts at CNY 3999 (about Rs 45,700). The Vivo X100 series will compete with the Xiaomi 14 series and going by history, we can expect Vivo to launch it in India in the coming days.
Vivo X100 Pro, Vivo X100 full specs, features
The Vivo X100 Pro and Vivo X100 are both powered by the new MediaTek Dimensity 9300 4-nanometre chipset and have the same 6.78-inch 1.5K resolution, 120Hz AMOLED display with up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness. They’re both IP68 rated for water and dust resistance and have an in-display fingerprint reader for biometrics.
Cameras obviously are their main USPs. Both phones come with ZEISS tuning and T* lens coating to minimise flair and ghosting in low-light situations interspersed with spots of light, for example, street lighting at night. The Vivo X100 Pro bags the cream of the lot with a 50-megapixel 1-inch IMX989 VCS bionic sensor paired to an f/1.75 aperture lens with optical image stabilisation, another 50-megapixel 150-degree field-of-view ultrawide, and 50-megapixel periscope telephoto certified by ZEISS APO for 4.3x optical and up to 100x digital zoom.
The Vivo X100 tones things down a bit with its 50-megapixel 1/ 1.49-inch IMX920 VCS bionic sensor paired to an f/1.57 aperture lens with optical image stabilisation, 64-megapixel f/2.57 aperture telephoto aperture for 3x optical zoom. It has the same 50-megapixel ultrawide.
Zoom cameras in both the Vivo X100 Pro and Vivo X100 can take telephoto macros, Vivo says.
Elsewhere, both phones have the same 32-megapixel front camera and a top-shelf model with crazy 16GB of LPDDR5T RAM and 1TB of UFS4.0 storage. The Vivo X100 Pro has a 5,400mAh battery with 120W fast wired and 50W wireless charging. The Vivo X100 has a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast wired charging only. Running the show is Origin OS 4 software based on Android 14. Models sold globally should run on Funtouch OS.
