Tech mogul Elon Musk is always entangled in controversy. Have you ever wondered what his companies are like to work for? Based on the account of an Indian techie, a rather surprising insight has been obtained.

Ayush Jaiswal, an Indian-origin tech professional who works at xAI, has provided a rare insight into the company’s unique culture. As part of the team focused on developing the Grok AI chatbot, the techie describes operating with an ‘incredible amount of intensity’ all while enjoying a remarkably positive environment.

“The vibe at the xAI office in Palo Alto is quite unique,” Jaiswal wrote in a statement. He elaborated on his comment, adding, “Incredible amount of intensity with 0 toxicity or politics. Very unique.”

This observation contrasts sharply with the often-cited highly demanding and sometimes toxic work atmospheres found in other high-pressure tech firms. One user commenting on Jaiswal’s post called this blend a “dream combo,” noting that most high-performing companies struggle to balance intensity with a non-toxic culture.

The emphasis on building over “corporate chess” appears to be a hallmark of the company’s recruitment and operational philosophy.

Jaiswal’s comments follow an earlier online buzz generated by the xAI office, including a post from another xAI engineer who shared an image of freshly made pizza, confirming a promise by Musk himself to install a wood-fired pizza oven right inside the office, thus showcasing how the firm takes care of employee perks and comfort.

Grokipedia was released recently

The positive and intellect-driven vibes seem to have a greater effect on the xAI team, which recently readied the company’s first attempt at an AI-generated encyclopedia, Grokipedia. Currently in its version 0.1 state, Grokipedia is Musk’s attempt at doing a better researched and non-editable alternative to Wikipedia. Musk has frequently criticised Wikipedia for perceived editorial bias, positioning Grokipedia as a platform seeking “the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”
