Airtel has announced a strategic partnership with streaming service ZEE5 to offer a wide variety of movies and TV shows at no extra cost to select broadband customers. Starting today, users subscribed to its Rs 699 and above broadband—Wi-Fi—plans, are eligible for free ZEE5, unlocking over 150,000 hours of content. ZEE5 joins the extensive catalogue of over 20 OTT apps and services that are currently available to these customers.
“Partnerships are at the core of Airtel’s DNA, and we are delighted to partner with ZEE5 in our endeavor to build a world-class digital content ecosystem,” Amit Tripathi, Chief Marketing Officer & EVP Customer Experience – Bharti Airtel said in a prepared statement.
This deal comes on top of Airtel’s already impressive TV and streaming package. Airtel broadband customers already have access to over 350 TV channels and a platform called Airtel Xstream Play, that puts together content from more than 23 other streaming services including SonyLiv, ErosNow, SunNxt, AHA, and more under one roof.
“ZEE5’s rich library adds a lot of depth to our content portfolio, enhancing the overall experience for our users,” Tripathi was further quoted as saying.
Free ZEE5 will come bundled with all Airtel broadband plan that cost Rs 699 or more per month. Those on the Rs 699 plan, which comes with internet speeds up to 40 Mbps, will benefit from ZEE5, Disney+ Hotstar, and 22 other OTT apps in addition to more than 350 TV channels. The Rs 899 plan bumps up the speed to 100 Mbps and has the same benefits. The 200 Mbps Rs 1,099 plan adds Amazon Prime to the list while for Rs 1,599 (300 Mbps) and Rs 3,999 (1 Gbps) also gets you Netflix subscription at no extra charge.
Airtel notes that eligible customers can access ZEE5 for free through the Airtel Thanks app.
