Google announces new features for android that will not be limited to Pixel models. Google claims that the new feature will upgrade the way users interact with tablets and mobiles. In addition to this it will also upgrade your experience with OS-powered watches.
Google explained in an official blog that it has come up with five new features that will enhance the way you use accessibility tools, search for new places and music and much more.
Google rolls out new features
So, what are the new features that the company has come up with? Given below are the new five features explained briefly:
- TalkBack: This feature is made for blind and people with low vision . Sometimes, using digital content can be challenging for them. So, with the new feature such people can get explanations on digital content through voice mode. Talkback uses the Gemini AI model to describe images or any form of content. For example if you are searching for a meaning of a word or description of a place, Talkback will explain it to you in voice mode.
- Music-identification tool: Google has also come up with a Shazam-like music finding app. The ‘circle to search’ tool helps you to get music just by listening to the song. You not only get the song but also YouTube links to watch the song. You can also get the title and singer name with this update. For example, you are humming a song and you don’t remember the name. So, you just hum by clicking the voice search in Google, and it will use the ‘circle to search’ tool to find that song.
- Hear your web page explain: Wouldn’t it be great if you could hear your searched contents without the need of reading them. Google has introduced a new feature in Chrome that can read out content for you. Additionally you can change the language , voice and speed of the audio as per your preference.
- Earthquake Alerts System: Google explained that its Earthquake alert system aims to alarm you before an earthquake comes. The feature uses real time data from Android devices for detecting earthquakes in real time. Moreover, it can provide you with caution about places where earthquakes can impact more.
Other updates
Google has extended the use of Google Maps in Wear OS watches. Now you can check maps in offline mode. Sometimes it gets too tiresome to check maps continuously on the phone, especially when you are travelling. Also, it can be tough to keep track of the directions if the network is poor in your location. This new feature will help you to navigate maps in such situations. You can download the map in your Wear OS watches and take help from it even if you are in poor network areas. In addition to this Google Maps has added two shortcuts. These are:
- You can search places using voice commands
- You can track your current location with a tap on your watch face
