Samsung to bring Google’s ‘circle to search’ AI feature to Galaxy A55, A35 and more – Check full list here

Circle to Search made its global debut on the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year even before Google’s own Pixel devices.

Samsung has announced the availability of Google’s Circle to Search feature for select Galaxy A series devices with the aim to democratise mobile AI to even more devices in the Galaxy ecosystem. Following Circle to Search’s availability on the selected Galaxy A series, this innovative search experience will also come to the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Tab S9 FE Plus tablets, where large displays and Galaxy S Pen should bring a new dimension to discovery, Samsung added in a blog post and release sent out to the media.

Circle to Search made its global debut on the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year—even before Google’s own Pixel devices—and has “quickly become a fan favourite,” Samsung said. The feature lets you Google search anything using a simple gesture and without switching apps. When Circle to Search is enabled, users can simply circle, highlight or tap anywhere on the screen to select the text, image or video they want to search, elevating the search experience to a new level of ease and excitement.

While it’s available on more Android devices now, Samsung got the first dibs at it through a collaboration with Google giving the South Korean giant a limited-time exclusive run over it. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, Samsung’s more recent launches, also come with the feature baked in.

To be clear, Circle to Search isn’t related to Samsung’s Galaxy AI. While Circle to Search is available for select A series devices now, the company remains tight-lipped about Galaxy AI features coming to its more affordable and mid-range devices.

When asked about the possibility, Samsung India’s Aditya Babbar had told financialexpress.com in a recent interview that their generative AI journey was starting with the Galaxy S24 and “we will continue to work on this part to make technology accessible and available to [more] consumers.” Samsung eventually plans to roll out Galaxy AI features this year to about 100 million Galaxy smartphones for “the global expansion of mobile AI.”

“These updates unlock new possibilities for the Galaxy A series and Galaxy Tab S9 FE series and reinforce our commitment to providing cutting-edge technology for more Galaxy users,” TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics said in a prepared statement. “We are dedicated to bringing awesome AI technology to a broader audience, empowering users with the option to work more efficiently, create more freely, and enjoy richer, more personalised interactions with their devices,” he added.
