After launching Galaxy AI earlier this year, Samsung seems to be expanding its feature named  Live Translate. News comes in that Samsung has confirmed the expansion of Live Translate to calls made through third-party messaging apps.

Samsung also confirmed that it will bring Galaxy AI to its upcoming foldables, including the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Z Flip 6.

What’s new!

“Soon, Samsung is extending the power of Galaxy AI beyond Samsung’s own native calling App by expanding Live Translate to other third-party message apps to support voice calls. So you can stay in contact with friends or colleagues, communicating on your favorite apps in multiple languages,” Samsung announced via a newsroom post.

Reportedly the Live translate during calls will be available on the Galaxy S24 series, S23 series, S23 FE, S22 series, Z Fold5, Z Fold4, Z Flip5, Z Flip4, Tab S9 5G series, and Tab S8 5G series. Feature is not supported on Tab S9 Wi-Fi series, Tab S9 FE, Tab S8 Wi-Fi series, A series phones or tablets, or on other models. However, the One UI 6.1 software update is required to use Galaxy AI features.

The functionality is baked into the stock phone app in Galaxy devices supporting Galaxy AI. It looks like Samsung’s confirmation  explained that the expansion of Live Translate will be available on apps like WhatsApp and Telegram. This can help you to make calls via the internet.

The future ahead!

A Samsung official wrote, “I expect that more and more mobile AI features will be incorporated inside mobile devices as the intelligent computing power of the latest chips — particularly NPUs — advances at a blazing fast speed, along with other technologies.”

Samsung further explained in a blog post that “the introduction of Galaxy AI on the Galaxy S24 series was only the start. To deliver a completely new and unique AI experience, we will further optimize the Galaxy AI experience for the upcoming foldable devices.”

Furthermore, the blog post by Samsung also highlighted that more of its AI features could expand to third-party apps in future.
