OpenAI takes a step ahead towards its vision of bringing a ‘real-time’ video understanding capability. According to an official blog ChatGPT now has the capability of initiating a ‘real-life’ kind conversation with you.
During a livestream on December 12, the artificial intelligence (AI) company announced that Advanced Voice Mode is finally taking shape. Notably Voice mode is OpenAI’s human-like conversational feature for ChatGPT. Let’s have a look at how your chatbot experience is going to change.

OpenAI has finally released the real-time video capabilities for ChatGPT. This capability was demoed nearly seven months ago. So, how does this update work? Using the ChatGPT app, you can point your phones at any random objects and have ChatGPT respond to that in real time. For example, you can show ChatGPT any object and it will explain the object/content in real time. Its like as if you are asking a human for their point of view.
Furthermore, please note that this feature is only applicable for users subscribed to ChatGPT Plus, ChatGPT Team, and ChatGPT Pro .
In a demo, Greg Brockman, OpenAI President, made Advanced Voice Mode play a vision quiz on Anderson Cooper on his anatomy skills. As Cooper drew body parts on a blackboard, ChatGPT could seemingly understand what he was drawing.After seeing the drawing the ChatGPT passed some comments. “The location is spot on,” ChatGPT said. Further adding on specific explanations like “The brain is right there in the head. As for the shape, it’s a good start.” It also pointed out some imperfections by saying , “The brain is more of an oval.” The voice mode will also be available in Santa’s voice. Santa’s voice will be available as a preset voice .
The way ahead
The rollout of Advanced Voice Mode with vision started from December 12. Also OpenAI siad that it will wrap up in the next week. However, not all users will get access.The AI giant further said that ChatGPT Edu and Enterprise subscribers won’t get the feature until January. Also it has no timeline for ChatGPT users in Switzerland, the EU,Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein.
So, do you get access to the advanced Voice mode? To access it click on the voice icon next to the ChatGPT chat bar. Next you need to click on the video icon on the bottom left. This will start the video. Plus point you can also share your device screen with ChatGPT. To screen-share, click on the three-dot menu and select “Share Screen.”
