OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is celebrating the joy of fatherhood. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Altman expressed his joy in a short post, stating that fatherhood is “the best thing in the world”. Altman and his partner had welcomed their baby to the world earlier this year, thus marking a new chapter for the 40-year-old CEO, who has left a significant mark in the world of generative AI.

Although Altman rarely shares glimpses of his personal life with the world, he couldn’t hold himself back from sharing his feelings about being a father, just weeks after he had a verbal spat with xAI and Tesla CEO Elon Musk over the dominance of the ChatGPT app on Apple’s App Store. Altman compared his fatherhood to the best thing he had ever experienced, thus hinting at a happy personal life.

Altman posted a heartfelt message, stating, “i can’t think of a non-cliche way to say this, but everyone who says having a kid is the best thing in the world is both correct and still somehow understating it.”

A lot of his followers joined him in celebrating fatherhood, suggesting how parenthood is among the best experiences, with some agreeing how understated the feeling is. Check out some of the responses to Altman’s post.

Netizens have also drawn parallels to a newborn with generative AI, and how Altman’s parenthood could help him raise ChatGPT as a ‘newborn’ entity in the digital world. His fatherhood is expected to influence his vision for this new technology and its future, which could eventually bridge the gap between technological advancements and human values. The recent release of GPT-5 was met with a controversial take from users, who said that the new OpenAI model had lost all the warmth and ‘human touch’.

Altman brought back warmth to ChatGPT after GPT-5 update

Altman, at the time, had raised concerns about how building emotional attachments was unhealthy, highlighting how humans can use advanced technology for self-destruction. While GPT-5 was made to feel warm in later updates, Altman had to bring back GPT-4o for paying users.

In a separate and lighthearted revelation, Altman also disclosed that he used ChatGPT for advice on newborn care. This detail not only adds a touch of humour but also showcases the practical ways in which AI can be integrated into everyday personal human experiences.
