As the ‘Shipmass,’ by OpenAI comes to an end, the artificial intelligence (AI) company announced its latest launch. The AI company said on December 20, that it was testing new reasoning AI models named o3 and o3 mini.
During the event, Sam Altman CEO, OpenAI said the AI company plans to launch o3 mini. This is expected to come by the end of January. Also it has a plan of launching o3 after that. The aim is to bring more strong large language models that could outperform existing models. Thus, eventually helping to gain more investments and users.
OpenAI brings new AI models
The Microsoft-backed OpenAI had initially released o1 AI models in September. o1 was made to spend more time in processing queries to solve hard problems.The o1 models can resonate through complex tasks.Also, it can solve more tough problems other than problems in science, math and even coding. Now with the update it aims to bring a more upgraded version of the o1.
As of now the new o3 mini and o3 models are in internal safety testing. The company further added that it is also open to the application process for external researchers till January 10. With this OpenAI plans to test o3 models before rolling out in public.
The way ahead
The plan to bring an advanced version of o1 could be a sign of competing with rivals such as Google to create smarter models capable of tackling complex problems. Looking ahead, the growing popularity of the company and new product launches helped OpenAI in gaining a $6.6 billion funding in October.The latest contribution to this achievement could be the launch of ChatGPT for macOS.
According to an official blog,on Day 11 of the 12 Days of OpenAI, the company shifted from your phone to your computer. This means macOS users now get an updated version of ChatGPT. To give a detailed view, OpenAI CPO Kevin Weil showed how Mac owners using the ChatGPT desktop version will see it floating on their screen. The preview was quite similar to a friendly digital sidekick.
