OnePlus has officially confirmed that its next big smartwatch, OnePlus Watch 2, will launch globally, India included, on February 26 at MWC 2024. OnePlus says the new product represents a “significant return to the high-stakes flagship smartwatch market,” after a three-year-long hiatus. The full design has been revealed and while OnePlus isn’t sharing any technical specs now, it says design and battery life will be its marquee features.
“After a three-year hiatus and a reflective pause following the OnePlus Watch 1, the Watch 2 re-emerged, and we are more confident than ever about this product. This confidence is not unfounded, it’s built on a foundation of substantial advancements in our technological ecosystem and capabilities,” OnePlus president and COO Kinder Liu said in a prepared statement, adding that “the Watch 2 indicates our determination to transform from “Flagship Killer” to “Ecosystem builder”. It will provide you with experience that’s not just improved but transformed.”
OnePlus Watch 2 launch: design, features
The OnePlus Watch 2 will feature a stainless-steel chassis and a sapphire crystal watch face, OnePlus has confirmed. The design inspiration is apparently the OnePlus 12 series. The smartwatch will come in two colours— Black Steel and Radiant Steel. As for the technical bits, all we know for now is that the OnePlus Watch 2 is rated to deliver “up to 100-hour battery life in smart mode” with OnePlus calling it a “new industry standard.”

The biggest tech spec though, which is the software, remains a mystery. Online reports peg WearOS which – if true— will be a big departure from the original which was based on Real-time OS (RTOS).
The OnePlus Watch, the brand’s first smartwatch also boasted of a premium design and killer battery life, but the rest of the package was bordering decent at best. It wasn’t a proper smartwatch per se, to begin with, with functionality more akin to a fitness tracker. But the real deal-breaker was the buggy software. It will be interesting to see how things pan for the upcoming second-generation. With OnePlus announcing the launch date– which isn’t very far off– it won’t be long before more information starts to trickle in.
OnePlus Watch 2 launch: Pre-reservation window
OnePlus has additionally announced that pre-reservations for its second flagship smartwatch will kick-off in India starting from February 20, through OnePlus online. By paying a token amount of Rs 99, pre-reserve customers stand a chance to get Rs 1,000 discount and OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 ANC at no extra charge on buying the OnePlus Watch 2.
