The cat is out of the bag. Nothing announced the Phone 3a series today, seemingly confirming it will launch more than one smartphone on March 4, 2025. The usual suspect, which is Phone 3a, will likely be joined by another model, perhaps the Phone 3a Plus, or whatever Nothing decides to call it. This aligns perfectly with reports that Nothing plans on launching three devices before the flagship Phone 3 makes an appearance. Save the best for the last is what Nothing is probably going for.
Anyhow, Nothing has shared more than a brief teaser, while announcing the Phone 3a series. The reveal includes an animated photo of one of the upcoming smartphones, showing off Nothing’s signature glyph lights in action surrounding the cameras in a circular fashion. Given that this is a mid-tier phone, we can expect Nothing to be a bit shy on how many lights it is putting but then again, we never know, what surprises await for D-day. The Phone 2a and 2a Plus had fewer lights than the Phone 2, so we are taking clues from that.
The camera module is another highlight of the Phone 3a series, something that Nothing has teased before. The Phone 3a probably has three cameras, one of them a telephoto, making it Nothing’s first smartphone with a zoom lens. It remains to be seen if this is something that only the high-end model in the series is getting, or both.
About the Phone 3a series, Nothing’s Co-founder Akis Evangelidis, said, “For the (a) Series we have a different set of users. When people buy a smartphone, some are looking for the greatest specs, they want the latest innovations and processors. Yet there are some other users that are equally excited about tech but are happy with just a great user experience – that’s who the (a) Series is for. We’re really focused on the core user needs in terms of camera, screen, processor, and of course design.”
The Phone 3a series is set for global launch on March 4 on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress or MWC. An India launch is happening simultaneously which is to say that India is getting the first dibs at these devices just like the Phone 2a series. Speculative specs as per rumour mills include Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, 5000mAh battery, and Nothing OS 3.1 based on Android 15. Stay tuned for more updates.
