Location technology: HERE, there, everywhere; How location tech helps software companies

Through HERE’s advanced analytics tools, enterprises can make data-driven decisions and improve business outcomes.

HERE
What3words doesn’t replace street addressing, but supplements it.

Last week, location data platform HERE Technologies partnered with Techjockey.com, an IT marketplace, to give the latter access to an array of HERE map data and location services.

While it’s easy to make sense how location tech can help delivery companies such as Zomato or Amazon – who have to physically reach customers – location tech can help software companies, too.

Techjockey co-founders Akash Nangia and Arjun Mittal told FE that the IT marketplace has 15,000-plus solutions from multiple ISVs (independent software vendors) listed across 350 categories covering everything an enterprise will need to address their IT challenges, and through this partnership Techjockey will offer a comprehensive suite of HERE solutions, including:

Location data: Helps gain valuable insights into customer behaviour and market trends.

Location services: HERE’s location services help to optimise logistics, delivery routes, and field operations.

Location intelligence: Through HERE’s advanced analytics tools, enterprises can make data-driven decisions and improve business outcomes.

“Our partnership with HERE will strengthen our vision to be the go-to platform for IT procurement. Independent software vendors (ISVs) and customers from automotive, BFSI, retail, and transportation & logistics can leverage this partnership and supercharge their business through location intelligence,” Nangia said.

“ISVs can use this location data to optimise logistics, delivery routes and field operations, leading to significant cost savings and improved productivity. Further, location-aware applications can provide personalised information to customers,” added Mittal. “Location data can also be used to gain valuable insights into customer behaviour and market trends, and make data-driven decisions about product development, marketing and sales.”

Sachin Thukral, head of Partner & Alliances, Asia Pacific, HERE Technologies, said that location data can be used to develop new products and services that meet the needs of customers. For example, a company could develop a location-based social networking app or a location-based advertising platform.

HERE Map Content and Location Services, along with Professional Services and Technical Support Services, will be offered by Techjockey via its marketplace and customer teams.

This includes:

HERE Routing: Create optimal guidance and journey times for commercial fleets with more accurate ETAs.

HERE Geocoding & Search: Convert an address into GPS coordinates, and reverse, and search hundreds of millions of places worldwide.

HERE Map Rendering: Access to accurate, comprehensive and highly interactive map for over 200 countries.

HERE Positioning: Accurately locate devices and assets using satellite, cellular and Wi-Fi signals in outside and indoor environments.

HERE Tour Planning: A many-to-many route optimisation service that helps transport and logistics companies improve the operational efficiency of routes and lower the costs for their fleets.

HERE SDK: Easy-to-use tools for a seamless integration of location services into native applications, optimised for Android and iOS.
