Reliance Jio is set to increase tariffs from July 3. Prices of both prepaid and postpaid plans are set to go up substantially. The price hike across various plans ranges from 12-27 percent. The move is geared towards increasing the average revenue per user (ARPU) in a bid to further industry innovation and drive sustainable growth through investments in 5G and AI technology. Airtel and Vodafone Idea, too, have updated their tariffs following the same formula.
Moreover, Jio (and Airtel) has revised the entry-level barrier for free unlimited 5G access making the service available on plans with 2GB data per day and more. Previously, you could get access to Jio’s Welcome Offer with plans starting as low as Rs 239. Now, you’ll need to shell out Rs 349 at least for this perk. Airtel has also announced a similar update for 5G.
Reliance Jio revised prepaid plan tariffs
The entry-level monthly plan, which previously cost Rs 155 for 2 GB of data over 28 days, will now be priced at Rs 189. Similarly, users opting for the 1 GB per day plan over the same validity period will see their expenses increase from Rs 209 to Rs 249. The 1.5 GB per day plan’s price rises from Rs 239 to Rs 299, and the 2 GB per day plan now costs Rs 349, up from Rs 299.
For users requiring more data, the 2.5 GB per day plan will go up from Rs 349 to Rs 399, while the 3 GB per day plan increases from Rs 399 to Rs 449. These changes signal a significant increase in monthly costs for heavy data consumers.
